Our story
Innovation dedicated to fix the main astrophotographic issues and to best perfomances with the special Made in Italy design
The brand AVALON INSTRUMENTS was born in 2010, as an innovative high quality product, aimed at both the amateurs and the professionals astronomical world.
The company is based in Aprilia, (LT) ITALY and the production is made by using highly innovative technologies with CAD-CAM programming and latest-generation CNC machines that makes it a national excellence .
The AVALON INSTRUMENTS project was born from the passion for astronomy of Luciano Dal Sasso, transforming his astronomical experience on the field into innovative astronomical equipment, it was the 1997, when a high quality Binoscope has been made ( at that time the brand was ASTROMECCANICA) and for the following years lots of innovative products has been designed and produced.

Since 2018, AVALON INSTRUMENTS, following a natural evolution, becomes a separated company dedicated both to the production of the established products and to the new ones to be developed for the next future.
It has been also activated a new division for the scientific research and development, in close collaboration with the National Institute for Astrophysics (INAF).
The AVALON INSTRUMENTS products has been designed to cover most of the needs of the casual and the advanced amateur astronomer. At the moment there are three different model mounts: M-Zero, M-Uno and Linear, then there is Merlino PRO (Personal Remote Observatory) that is a small robotic observatory, designed to maximize the advanced capabilities of the M-uno mount, furthermore new models are under development
Today AVALON INSTRUMENTS products are distributed in different parts of the world through selected retailers in countries such as: Europe, USA, Japan, Australia, Canada etc.
Thanks to the exclusive design and technology, AVALON INSTRUMENTS made something unique, easy to use and reliable that makes astronomy passion finally simple and fun.

All Belt Drive System Mount
Released the first All Belt Drive System mount that resolve the main astrophotographer issues: backlash, maintenance, slow response to pulse guide with a beautiful Made in Italy design.
A new breed of astronomical mount comes to life
GoTo System with 2 AUX Port on board and wireless connection feature
Released the StarGo, a conroller for the mount management with two AUX port (1 ASCOM) and a wireless connection feature with a proprietary software provided with an ASCOM driver for the connection with any ASCOM based software.

No Meridian Flip mount
Designed the M-uno, an Equatorial single arm fork mount that allow to track an object all night long with the need of the Meridian Flip. The Special design allows at the same time to balance a medium weight setup with small counterweights (0,5 Kg) or without any counterweight at all.

Personal Remote Observatory
Released an observatory designed for the fully remote control of an astrophotographic setup. The project comes with a software for the complete management of mount, dome, devices and includes Start Up and Shut Down macro.

Portable Light Weight Mount
Released the M-zero a light weight and portable mount configurable in Equatorial / Altaz mode and provided with the T-pod 90 in the package. The total mount + tripod weight is within 12 kg.

Introduced the Dual Dec feature in the No Meridian Flip mount. Track an object all night long with the telescopes without the Meridian Flip.

Introduced the Motorized Polar Alignment kit for the remote Polar Alignment management on the M-uno mount. Very important feature for remote observatory setup. Is now possible to polar align even without anyone in the nearby.

Released the StarGo2 Pro, a Raspberry Pi based controller, a Real All in One Astrophotographic setup management for the complete management of Mount, Focuser, Cameras, devices.
